| Chemmeen Varuthathu (Kerala Style Prawn Fry) |
Ingredients :
- 250 gms Prawns (shells removed and cleaned)
- 1 small onion
- 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/4 cup chopped coconut
- 2-3 tbsp tamarind extract
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 10 curry leaves
- 1 tbsp chopped coriander
Method :
- Heat oil in a pan or kadhai and tamper mustard seeds. Add fennel seeds and saute a while.
- Add chopped onions, chopped coconut and curry leaves. Fry for 2 mins. Add ginger-garlic paste and prawns.
- Saute a while. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, pepper powder and salt to taste.
- Add tamarind extract and cook it covered for 10 mins. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
