Ingredients :

For Curry :
  • 1 kg Chicken
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 dry red chilies
  • 15-20 curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander

To Grind :
  • 5 cloves
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 5 dry red chilies
  • 1 tsp pepper powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds

Method :

To Prepare Paste :
  • Dry roast poppy seeds, broken red chilies and fennel seeds in a pan or kadhai. Dont fry for too long. Roast for few mins and remove from the heat.
  • Allow to cool. Grind it in a mixer along with cloves, cinnamon, pepper and cumin powder adding little water. Keep it aside.

To Prepare Curry :
  • Marinate chicken with turmeric powder and keep aside for 1 hour. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan or kadhai. Tamper mustard seeds.
  • Add chopped onions and curry leaves. Fry for few mins. Add ginger-garlic paste and saute a while.
  • Add marinated chicken and mix well. Cook for 5 mins. Add prepared masala paste, coriander powder and cook it covered for 10 mins. Add little salt.
  • Add tomato puree and remaining salt. Add 1/2 cup water and cook it covered for 10-15 mins on low flame. Garnish with chopped coriander. Serve hot with steamed rice.

  12. Keep an eye on it when you take the lid off or it will certainly thicken too much. Was ok, but can't say I'll be making Coriander chicken curry.
